Few examples of existing programs:
1) "Warm Home" for young girls, in partnership with WIZO
Founded nine years ago, this program serves 15 young girls in grades 7-8-9. They attend this 3 1/2 hour after school program three times a week, receiving a hot meal, personal homework help and other therapeutic activities during this time. These girls also receive support during vacations and holidays.
2) Academic Support
This youth club for middle school and high school students meets three times weekly in Ramat Tzvi, (a lower socioeconomic area of Zichron.) Here, a coordinator, Tali, and her five volunteers help students on a one on one basis to improve their grades. We'd love to expand this program and employ paid teachers.
3) Women's Programming
Women's Club: There are two women's clubs in the neighborhood of Neve Sharett that operate in the evenings, one for ages 35-45 and the other from 45-65. Activities run the gamut between creative projects, dancing and trips.
Women's Forum:
This forum was founded in 2008 and has three primary objectives: support of female small business owners, social and cultural events, and Morning Culture, which are activities in conjunction with the community center and WIZO. They have. Facebook page detailing their activities and participants recurve email updates.
4) Holocaust Survivors:
In partnership with WIZO, this club meets with WIZO staff on Monday mornings. They keep abreast of new developments regarding benefits for survivors and offer support and encouragement as needed. There are varied activities in rotation appropriate for this age group. We'd love to expand the program to add another day of activities. At the moment there are about 30 members in this club.
