The aim of the Introduction to Science initiative is to expose young people from the social periphery in Israel to what is taking place in research universities nationwide. In the framework of this project, each year about twenty thousand ninth-graders from the periphery will have the experience of visiting an Israeli campus. During the visit, the students will have the privilege of direct exposure to the character of study and research in these institutions, as well as to the students and researchers themselves.

The target audience is students who would otherwise never have the opportunity, over the course of their school years, to be exposed to higher education and groundbreaking research. The aim of the visit is to foster interest and curiosity and to develop the student’s sense of potential, which may ultimately lead some of these young people to pursue higher education.
